Badges & Seasons

Monthly races against your friends, the badges they earn, and Past Champions.

UPDATED · September 15, 2026

CoyoteEdge runs on monthly seasons. Every month is a new race, and your board is you and the hunters you've added as friends.

How a season works

Every verified kill during the month counts toward your place on that board. Tied on kills, the hunter who struck first ranks ahead. When the month closes, the board stops counting and the results come in shortly after. You don't sign up for a season — it's just running, the same way the calendar is.

Badges and trophies

Finish in the top three of your friend circle and you earn a badge — champion, runner-up or top three — and it goes in your trophy case for good. Badges only award when your circle has at least three hunters: you and two friends. Badges don't expire.

The season archive

Every closed month stays on the record. Past Champions shows each month's podiums, and your trophy case shows the badges you've earned.

Which month a kill counts toward

    1. A kill counts toward the month it happened in, by the kill's own time.
    2. Every hunter races on the same clock, so a month closes at the same instant everywhere — midnight UTC, which is the evening of the last day in US time zones.
    3. Your Log still files a hunt under the night it started, so a hunt that runs past midnight stays one night in your record. The race goes by the kill's time.

This matters most at the edges of a month: a kill made after the month closes counts for the next month, even if the hunt started before it.

What doesn't score

Manual uploads — photos you add to your record after the fact, without a logged hunt behind them — never count toward season standings, no matter what. They stay in your Log for good, marked NOT VERIFIED, because they are your field record. They simply have no door to the race.

A kill the AI turns down is not lost, though. Send it to your friends to sign. Once three of them approve it, it counts the same as one the AI passed. Every signer has to have been your friend before you logged the kill, and at least two of the three need a kill of their own that counted. The third can be a friend without one, as long as you'd been friends for at least 21 days when you logged the kill. So a brand-new friend with no kill of their own can't be the third signer on a kill you logged in your first 21 days as friends. Partners on a shared kill can't sign each other's share. And the three signatures have to land before the month closes. What never counts is a declined kill nobody signed, and a photo with no hunt behind it.

RULE

The race goes by when the kill happened. Log kills as they happen, not after — that's what keeps the season boundary honest.
